Deonna Webb has been a Twende volunteer for a little over a year, writing and producing the monthly newsletters and helping plan fundraising events such as the silent disco this past summer. Stemming from her studies in international development and sustainability, she has always been passionate about global development issues.

She first became involved with Twende through the company she works with, CED Greentech, who has donated solar material for various projects. Deonna also volunteered with Twende’s Portland Rescue Mission project where she was able to witness women from the shelter enthusiastically getting involved in the build. Deonna says she thinks the work that Twende does is important because the foundation of a healthy civilization revolves around health, education, and infrastructure, and if Twende can bring sustainable, renewable energy to places that did not have power previously, there is a big impact on communities that really need it.

Deonna’s favorite part of being on the Twende team is working with a great group of supporters all working towards power for all. She looks forward to continuing to be a part of the team and watching Twende grow into something bigger and more impactful than it already is.
